MY STORY
I've Been An Entrepreneur Since I Was 15.
Blane at Outrageous Audio
Portland, Oregon
I grew up in the state of Maine. From a young age, my father instilled the entrepreneurial spirit in me. I was always on my paper route, mowing lawns, and even collecting lost golf balls to sell back to the golf course for 25 cents each as a young boy.
My family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1976. When I was 15, I bought some used arcade games from a closing business. Remember Pac-Man and Asteroids? I started with 5 machines, placed them at the local college and bars, collected the quarters every week, and built that business up to 150 machines before selling the entire route at age 17.
I started a mail-order company focused on software and components for the Commodore 64. The entire basement of my parents' house was filled with phone lines, computer terminals, and shipping boxes. I sold that company and went to work for several large corporations, and quickly realized corporate life wasn't for me.
In 1987, I co-founded Outrageous Audio. What started as a speaker box company, building boxes by hand in our garage, grew into one of Portland's most iconic businesses. 34+ years later, we're consistently rated the top Car Audio store in the world by Kicker, Kenwood, Audio Control, Focal, and Compustar.
Along the way, I've built and operated retail businesses, service businesses, and rental properties. I've made every mistake there is to make. I've also figured out what actually works: what keeps employees, what keeps customers coming back month after month, and what separates a business that runs you from a business that runs itself.

And Somewhere Along The Way, The World Changed.
Customers started searching online before they ever walked through a door. Phones started getting answered by competitors with better systems. AI showed up and changed what's possible in a single year. I saw firsthand how much great American businesses were losing. Not because they weren't good at what they do, but because their systems hadn't caught up to the world.
So I modernized mine. Websites that actually sell. CRMs that capture every lead. AI that answers calls 24/7. Automation that follows up while I sleep. POS and reporting systems that finally show me what's working. The difference was night and day: more revenue, less stress, fewer fires to put out.
Now I'm ready to share everything I've learned with you.
"Money does not buy you happiness, but it gives you choices others don't have."
